Updating purely so I can show off my new cousin. Her parents (My cousin Darci, and her husband, Patrick) have been trying to either have their own kid or adopt for five years, and every time it fell through. They got the call a couple of days ago and raced to San Antonio just in time to see Jade come into the world. 1 month premature, 18 inches, 5 pounds and absolutely gorgeous.

I can't wait until they're able to bring her home and I can meet her (and spoil the crap out of her). If my brother doesn't have kids, I'm gonna be the crazy "aunt" for my cousins' kids.
Its things like this that make me so thankful that I'm so close with my extended family :)

FYI, If you see the reviews for the Last Airbender and go "omg, it can't be that bad!" yes.. yes it can. :( Horrible acting, horrible script, bad cinematography. Ugh. I swear if they do a second movie and ruin Toph, I'ma kill something.
Didn't help that the theater was in KC and I couldn't find it and the kid next to me was high as a kite (twitchy as hell and I could smell good 'ol Mary Jane on him) and he wouldn't shut uuuuup.
And now I'm drunk. So there you have it. Hey Heather! The apple vodka you bought finally got drunk.. drank? I'm drunk. No two ways about it. Hi, world.
Time for bed. ANd sobering up.

So Lori and Dad got me a reproduction of the 1887 White House Cookbook. UH I HAVE TO MAKE STUFF FROM IT. I've been internally obsessing over it since I opened it. Just haven't had a chance to make something/can't choose what to make.
Also, I recommend reading Brandon Sanderson's Elantris. Its fantastic so far.
Steel cut oats are so much better than rolled oats. Just sayin'.
Started working out with Kassia 3 times a week. Considered skipping out today, but one of my coworkers had a freaking quintuple bipass surgery the other day and that has inspired me to not slack and try to be healthy. I wanted to try anyway, but holy crap, if that wasn't a sign to take better care of myself, I don't know what is.
Woke up today to find that one of the neighbors ran into my car last night and left a big fucking dent in the driver side door. Gonna have to get that fixed and somehow come up with the cash for the deductible. Pleh $500 :/ There goes any usage I might have gotten out of my next few paychecks.
Killing time waiting for the dryer to finish. Wheee.

I think the icon sums it up. Possible real post if I ever manage to stop thinking the kids in Seven Samurai are raptors.

2009, you were a hell of a weird year.
January
-Discovered Molly likes to be held wrapped up in a blanket. Also began noticing signs that she's starting to age.
-Made a wicked awesome cheesecake. A week or so later, I made another one that refused to set and had beef broth fall on it. Such is life.
-Lived at Campus Court still. Had loud neighbors. Slowly went insane.
-More or less broke down on Inaguration day.
-Got switched to day shift for snow duty. I still miss working nights :(
February
-Finally figured out how to make cheap homemade tempura.
-Almost didn't get paid because the State thought it might be a good idea to with hold people's paychecks until the governor signed something to cut down on education spending.
-Reorganized the accident reports. Only took me all month.
-Received the gift of a Nintendo 64 (sixty four, SIXTY FOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR) from Erica. Obsessively played Majora's Mask.
March
-Finally finished watching Gurren Lagann. And loaned it to someone who has yet to give it back. uuuh.
-Went to the midnight showing of Watchmen. Turned around and saw it in IMAX later that day.
-Also made Watchmen cupcakes. Noticing a theme? They were red velvet :D
-Bought my first dress since I was a kid.
-Ate Elk and Buffalo for the first time. Both delicious.
-Went to the Vegas of the Midwest (SNORT), Branson. As silly as it was, we actually had a fantastic time. Sadly, no Dolly Parton or Donny Osmond sightings :(
-Made one of my food dreams come true by going to Lamberts, Home of the Thrown Rolls! I OD'd on those suckers.
-Also made it to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. And the Cosmic Caves! I recommend visiting both, they were gorgeous!
-My old boss retired.
-Got a new phone, not anticipating the fail that would follow.
April
-Found out I'm an even 4'11" via Pete's electronic measuring device thingy.
-Realized how much fail previously mentioned new phone was. Kicked myself for not waiting.
-Kept running into Aunt Carolea and Darci at TJ Maxx.
-Fell in absolute love with Darci's foster kid, Mya.
-Had my first real nose bleed.
-Went to a rememberance party for Ben's Dad, who had died the year before.
-Finally bought a record player.
-Hatched plans to go visit Keisha for a weekend.
-Got the call from Dad informing me that we were totally going to Disney World!
-Along with David and Eric, developed the theory that Google is actually Skynet and Google will rain down Terminators upon us to rule the world one day.
-Organized a benefit lunch for J.P. where we raised almost $800 to help with medical costs.
May
-J.P. lost his battle with cancer the day before the 3rd anniversary of my Mom's death. He was the first co-worker that I've ever had die.
-As I said, it was the third anniversary of Mom's death. It was easier this year than last year.
-Was sick as hell for a week. What was in that week? My 24th birthday! Balls!
-Spent a weekend in North Carolina with Keisha and her family. Lots of fun!
June
-More crazy projects at work that took forever.
July
-Couldn't get another apartment so I got stuck at the shithole that I was already at.
-Helped Erica move.
August
-Was highly amused to find someone threw out a $1-2,000 Louis Vuitton bag and left it sitting by the dumpster. I snatched that fucker up. Still need to fix it up.
September
-Set up yet another benefit, this time for Jim. We raised around $600 :)
-Started working on my halloween costume.
-Set up another benefit, this time for United Way. Sadly, the only money raised came from 3 people, including myself :(
-Met Heather in Atlanta, flew down to Florida where we met up with my Dad and Lori and went to DISNEY WORLD.
October
-Set up the annual employee appriciation lunch.
November
-Got evicted. Moved in with Nick, Kassia and David.
-Packed and moved an entire apartment's worth of stuff in just a weekend.
December
-Baked shit tons of cookies with Kassia.
-Spent Christmas at work because there was a BLIZZARD. WTF.
Clearly, I was far more interesting in the beginning of the year. Or is it that I just got worse at recording the interesting stuff as the year went on? Who knows?
Stuck at work doing snow duty again. All I want is a nap.

Guess who gets to wake up at 6amish to go to work for 12 hours on Christmas Eve? And then gets to turn around and do it all over again on Christmas Day? AWESOME. Dammit snow :( I hope Dillons will be open tomorrow so I can pick up food on my way to 12 hours of boredom. At least I'll get alot of knitting in?
